With Canadians looming around the corner, I think its time for predictions. What do you think will happen? What surprises do you expect? What are you most looking forward to?

My predictions? For Ice Dance, Tessa and Scott are going to win it. Its going to be a battle for second and third though because we have Kaitlyn and Andrew, Vanessa and Paul, and that younger team of Karis and Ralph. However, there is a team just coming on the circuit that could suddenly pop into our view with Tarrah Harvey and Keith Gagnon. They are strong and have programs to wow everyone with. For pairs... it is hard to predict. Who knows if Megahn and Craig are competing because Megahn may still be injured. Jessica and Bryce have had a rough season so far and Annabelle and Cody are just getting their feet back under them from last year's injury. In women's, I don't think Joannie will disappoint. If she skates strong, she will win for sure. And in men's.... Patrick should be the favorite to win, however because of his injuries I am not sure how healed he is and if he has the stamina. I think that young Jeremy Ten will probably shine and maybe skate his way to the podium.

Perdictions - Ice dance gold is really a no brainer...Tessa and Scott all the way. I think that Kaitlyn and Andrew have worked really hard this year and they could claim the silver, and the second olympic spot...but they will have to skate their BEST! Vanessa and Paul should do well too.
Ladies gold - Joannie...no doubt about it...she is in a league of her own. As for the second olympic spot...I would love to see Cynthia take it...but Ameile has been skating well, and so has Diane Schmidt...who knows...ladies are always so unpredictable.
Pairs - ? Hopefully somebody shows up! Bryce and Jess have the programs that could claim it for sure...but they have to skate as a team....like I said ??? However I am sure that they will be on the Olympic team. The second spot is certainly up for grabs!
Mens - Patrick will take the title...again, like Joannie, a league of his own. The second Olympic spot will probably be earned by Jermey...HOWEVER...there are a few diamonds in the rough out there that when they are on....could claim it...namely Vaughn Chipeur....Kevin the Quad King....game on.
This is an Olympic year...although gold, silver and bronze at Nationals is always important...this year...peforming well and being in the top two will likely qualify the skater for an Olympic team spot (Skate Canada ALWAYS has a final say...).
London is going to be very enlightening.

While I agree that the front runners in men's and ladies singles and dance are in a league of their own,the best thing that could happen for our future would be for able skaters to be permitted to take a shot at the second ranking favourites. Too often we see a favourite wipe the ice only to be rewarded while a superior skate is undermarked. For the sake of the future let ability rise based on skating rather than politics or which province the skater represents.
